Lamellar Lucent Zone (LLZ)

A veterinarian-reviewed workflow for measuring the radiographic lamellar lucent zone at multiple levels. DigiHoof proposes landmarks; you inspect and correct them before using or sharing the result.

Why three levels?

Proximal, middle, and distal measurements preserve the shape of the zone rather than reducing the dorsal interface to a single width. That creates a more consistent record for comparing the same foot across visits.

Measurement assistance, not a diagnosis

LLZ values must be interpreted with image technique, calibration, clinical examination, history, and the veterinarian's judgment. DigiHoof does not diagnose laminitis or replace radiographic interpretation. Every landmark and output must be reviewed before use.

The term lamellar lucent zone follows the terminology used in the peer-reviewed Equine Veterinary Journal validation paper. Internal legacy identifiers are retained for compatibility with earlier DigiHoof studies.
